DESCRIPTION:The Actuarial\, Finance\, Risk and Insurance Congress 2 (AFRIC 2) will be held inside Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya at Muthu Keekorok Lodge from the 8th – 13th of June 2025. \nThis is a premier non-profit making Actuarial Science academic conference\, bringing together academics and practitioners with research interests across all specialty areas of actuarial science\, risk management\, and financial system regulation.  AFRIC aims to enhance the research culture within Africa’s actuarial community. \nStakeholders – academics\, practitioners\, and students – are encouraged to submit an abstract for this fairytale event. Abstract submissions are welcome from all core areas of actuarial science\, finance\, risk management and emerging areas including artificial intelligence. Submission deadline for abstracts is Friday\, the 13th of December 2024 at 23:59hrs (AEST). She began her career as an Actuarial Analyst at Deloitte Kenya\, where she provided advisory services to insurers and banks. She later joined PwC UK as an Actuarial Consultant\, working on a range of projects including reserving\, IFRS 17 implementation\, financial modeling\, and other strategic initiatives within the general insurance space. It was during this time that Christine developed a strong interest in cyber risk quantification\, prompting her to shift her professional focus toward cyber risk analytics. \nCurrently\, Christine serves as a Cyber Actuary at CyberCube Analytics\, where she specializes in quantifying cyber risk at both a catastrophic and single-risk level. Her work plays a critical role in driving innovation within the cyber insurance market\, supporting insurers in risk assessment\, pricing optimization\, and portfolio management strategies. She has also contributed to the development of cutting-edge solutions for cyber insurance\, helping insurers navigate the rapidly evolving cyber risk landscape. \nChristine holds a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from Strathmore University and a Master’s degree in Actuarial Management from Bayes Business School. Beyond her professional role\, she is passionate about mentoring aspiring actuaries and remains dedicated to shaping the future of cyber risk management within the insurance industry.

Discover how her athletic journey is making a significant impact on young actuarial science students in Africa. \nAmrita is a senior member of the UK P&C team at Guy Carpenter\, where she focuses on reinsurance optimisation\, reinsurance pricing during renewals\, and capital modelling to assess the capital efficiency of various reinsurance programmes. She has worked in the reinsurance industry for more than 13 years and qualified as an Actuary in 2014. \nAmrita began her career at GC\, after completing her BSc and MSc degrees in Actuarial Science and Actuarial Management respectively Her sports for good started in 2016 when she made it to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Since then she has been a constant presence in variety of extreme sports. \nSome of the marathons under Amrita’s belt include London\, Athens\, and Manchester. Amrita joined the world of triathlons in 2018\, and she has participated in Bolton’s\, Wales’\, Dubai’s\, and Sochi’s IRONMAN events. She has also taken part in the world of the ‘Ultras’! In 2022\, Amrita was in South Africa for a 90KM ‘Comrades‘ – the world’s oldest and longest ultramarathons – which span from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. Before that\, he was the Head of the Actuarial Function at Kenya Orient. He has also worked at IRA Kenya. \nBoniface is a volunteer with the IFoA assisting in the marking of the SA2 exam.
