The Actuarial Academy of East Africa (AAEA) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming an official tutorial provider for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). Such recognition is a testament to the quality and value of the AAEA’s educational offerings.

The AAEA is a non-profit institution whose mission statement is commitment to the development of the Actuarial Profession in support of East African Community financial sector growth.

By its unique positioning, the academy is instrumental in ensuring the stability and longevity of the financial services industry in the region by supporting and facilitating the development of actuaries who are uniquely positioned to support the growth of the East Africa financial service sector due to their training in identifying and mitigating risks relevant to financial services.

The Actuarial Academy has three pillars that defines its objectives and mission. They are:

  • University Support
  • Mentorship and
  • Tutorials

Under University Support, the academy is collaborating with universities in Africa to enhance holistic and real-world oriented actuarial education. The dynamic partnership with educational institutions is helping us shape the future of actuarial science.

Under the Mentorship pillar, the AAEA is supporting actuarial trainees (students and young professionals) in the East African market, and particularly targets those that may not have access to actuarial resources through their universities or workplaces.

Through Tutorials, the academy is revolutionising actuarial education by offering tutorials tailored to make learning more flexible, accessible, and personalised.

As an IFoA official tutorial provider, the academy will continue to contribute to the growth and development of aspiring actuaries.
