According to Wikipedia, IRONMAN is “widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world.” It consists of a 3.8-kilometre swim, a 180-kilometre bike ride, and a 42-kilometre run; all to be completed in a time limit of 17 hours with cut off times for each leg. On 22 September, Amrita will take her place in the hilly South Wales, and will attempt to finish this course within the time parameters to achieve the prestigious title of ‘IRONMAN.’
Total amount being raised by Amrita is KES1 million for every kilometre met. That means if she completes 225.8 kilometres, the Africa Scholarship Fund receives KES225.8 million. The funds raised will be used to support future of actuarial science in Africa. This corresponds to Actuarial Academy of East Africa’s Mission of “…supporting the growth of the actuarial profession in Africa.”

Amrita joined the world of triathlons in 2018, and she has participated in Bolton’s, Wales’, Dubai’s, and Sochi’s IRONMAN events. She has also taken part in the world of the ‘Ultras’! In 2022, Amrita was in South Africa for a 90KM ‘Comrades‘ – the world’s oldest and longest ultramarathons – which span from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
Building up to the September IRONMAN race, Amrita will participate in a series of races totalling 343 Kilometres.
This is because the final race I’m doing is the Wales IronMan, and we are building up to that. It is I think the top 5 hardest IRONMAN is in the world, because the course is extremely hilly, and the water is very choppy.
