The Actuarial Academy of East Africa (AAEA) is proud to host the second Actuarial Science Faculties Summit on 24th October 2024, under the theme “Interdisciplinary Approaches in Actuarial Education.”
Running virtually from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM EAT, the Summit aims to equip faculty members with insights into emerging global trends in the actuarial profession, while fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. Speakers will address crucial topics such as:

SPEAKERS:
PAUL SWEETING: Paul is a Senior Advisor at Hassana Investment Company. He returned to Hassana having been the Governor Assistant for Financial Sustainability and Risk Management at GOSI, the General Organisation for Social Insurance in Saudi Arabia. Before joining GOSI, he was Hassana’s Chief Risk Officer. Hassana is responsible for managing the assets of GOSI.
Immediately prior to this, Paul was a Professor of Actuarial Science at the University of Kent, where he taught enterprise risk management. He remains an Honorary Professor at Kent. He has also written a text book – “Financial Enterprise Risk Management” – used by actuarial associations around the world for the Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary qualification.
Prof Carolyne Adhiambo Ogutu: Prof Ogutu is a dedicated educator with over 10 years’ experience in academia, known for her active engagement in student development. As the current patron of University of Nairobi Actuarial Students Association (N’ASA), she has been instrumental in mentoring and guiding students towards academic and professional success.
Carolyne has also played a pivotal role in curriculum development at the Department of Mathematics, University of Nairobi. She is currently involved in research projects that focus on training and innovation while development of cutting-edge solutions through Data Science and Machine Learning.
Gabe Necoechea: Gabe is currently the Director of Content and UX for ACTEX Learning in the Africa & Middle East markets. Prior to this role, Gabe worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Kansas State University and as a Peer Tutor at Roberts Wesleyan College.
With a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mathematics from Kansas State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Roberts Wesleyan University,
Gabe is experienced in leading problem-solving sessions, delivering lectures, and providing one-on-one help to students in math courses.
