Sammy Makove is an insurance management consultant with Kenbright Actuarial and Financial Services Ltd [KAFS]. He has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry having risen through the ranks from an underwriter to become Commissioner of Insurance and CEO of Insurance Regulatory Authority – Kenya. He has served in the boards of various organisations including, the Insurance Regulatory Authority, the Retirement Benefits Authority, the Capital Markets Authority, the Insurance Training and Education Trust, and the Policyholders Compensation Fund among others. He is a holder of a Masters of Arts degree in Psychology and an Executive MBA.
Mr Makove is a qualified Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of the UK [ACII], Associate of the Insurance Institute of Kenya [AIIK], Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Member of the Institute of Directors [Kenya Chapter], and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya.
In 2009, he was awarded state honours [MBS] by H.E. the President of the Republic of Kenya for his contribution to the insurance industry. He has also been honoured by the Association of Kenya Insurers, The Actuarial Society of Kenya (TASK), and the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya [ICPSK].
Over the last 15 years, he has addressed various conferences and presented papers in many workshops and seminars across the world on matters of insurance regulation, financial inclusion, and corporate governance.
